What are Simulation Files?
Many cutting tools have complex profiles that are difficult to describe in a traditional catalog format. In these cases, it may be helpful to understand the tool's specific profile to confirm tool selection prior to purchasing. Using a universal file format (.STEP), the simulation file can be downloaded and imported directly into the CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software package. In this way, the tool cutting parameters can be simulated and issues involving interference, dimensional accuracy and cycle times can be determined ahead of time allowing a more informed cutter choice.
Each .STEP file has the following features:
- 3D format
- Nearly all solid carbide tools and Tool Holders available
- Milling/Hole-making tools, Profile Revolved at Center line
- Turning tools/holders, detailed 3D model
- Created using SolidWorks and saved in .STEP format
Our simulation files are compatible with most common CAD and CAM software programs.
