Our History

Our corporate history and accomplishments are as unique as our competitive advantages in carbide tool technology.  Here is, how it all started:

1967:           Jack Newberry, Master Machinist by trade, invents and develops the unique, exclusive in-house super carbide process.  He forms his business in Los Angeles, California.

1968:           Breakthrough in tool development for machining all types of steels, hard and soft, plus exotic aerospace materials.

1969:           Targeted introduction to select distributors in California.

1974:            becomes a trademark with the now internationally renowned company logo.

1980:           Demand exceeds the capacity of the Los Angeles production facility.  In order to meet the demand and to take advantage of lower manufacturing costs, the plant relocates to Meridian (near Boise), Idaho.  The sales office and warehouse remain in Los Angeles, California, serving its nationwide tool dealer network which includes many of the top 100 U.S. tool distributors.

1992:            goes international with immediate success in Asia and Canada.

1997:           Again, increased demand leads to a substantial plant expansion into a modern facility with over 50,000 sqft. manufacturing capacity housing the latest and state of the art tool making equipment and a staff of over 100 employees, committed to excellence in quality and performance.

2000:           Intensive market penetration with the appointment of strategically located sales representatives and worldwide distribution.

2002:           's distribution continues to expand in traditional channels and e-commerce with special focus on key-technology and niche markets such mold making technology and modern HSC Aluminum milling.

2004:            accomplished a new international sales record with double digit growth in Asia, Europe and South America.

2005:            consolidates the warehouse and sales organization into its headquarters in Meridian, Idaho.
